Lent Week 2: Dear Lord! Please fold my mountain of laundry

Mark 11:23-24

Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him.
Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.

Disclaimer : This verse CANNOT be taken literally.

If we do so, we may be sadly mistaken and very disappointed!

Same as last weeks verse, Matthew 7:3-5. Clearly we aren't walking around pulling junk out of our eyes nor our brothers' & sisters' eyes . Although sometimes I'd like too! Ha!

What is Mark telling us here? When we have faith in God, with his help, he can move mountains like obstacles...NOT LAUNDRY MOUNTAINS!! If only I could pray for the Lord to fold and save my laundry, we would be in business! So I guess I will just make it a prayer.

The faith he speaks of here is not faith in our own power, faith in man or any type of worldly faith. He means faith in God ... Only!

When God's will and our faith to do his will align, we will receive it. Let's hear that again. When God's will and our faith to do his will align, we will receive it.

There is nothing too hard for God if our desires are according to his plans for our lives. When our will aligns with God's will, our faith will allow us receive what we ask for. Simple right? Absolutely not easy!

I don't know about you, but I am an instant gratification kind of women. Waiting to see if he wills it or not is just plain hard. So I pray! Not with an expectation to get an answer or to obtain peace, but to build a relationship with the One who is always pursuing me.

We are called to prayer. So let's pray like it's not an option. "We can't be the people we were called to be without a prayer life," Fr. Mike Schmitz.

How would our lives change if we pursued the one pursuing us for just 5,10,15, 20 minutes a day for the next 40 days?

We have beautiful days ahead my friend! Have Faith.

Fr. Mike Schmitz also says, "The whole battle is just showing up!"

Let's show up!

Action:

Here's some questions from Fr Mike Schmitz I come back to often . You can also listen to the full podcast ! Highly recommend! Here is the Link.

  1. WHEN are your going to pray?

  2. WHERE are you going to pray?

  3. WHAT or HOW are you going to pray?

  4. WHY are you going to pray?

Reflect & Pray with Song for the week...

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, And His righteousness, And all these things shall be added unto you. Alleluia, Alleluia. Man shall not live by bread alone, But by every word That proceeds from the mouth of God, Alleluia, Alleluia. Ask and it shall be given unto you, Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you, Alleluia, Alleluia! Seek ye first the kingdom of God, And His righteousness, And all these things shall be added unto you. Alleluia, Alleluia.
